In-office venous surgery is one of the most rapidly growing areas in medicine. If you have been considering adding venous procedures as part of your practice, a unique new educational course could provide the foundation for such expansion. The program is limited to eight participants and is specifically designed to sharpen skills in venous surgery and enhance medical practices. The intensive three and a half-day Masters Practicum in Office-based Venous Surgery will be held in the serene, tropical beauty of La Romana, Dominican Republic. Under careful guidance, attendees will learn how to perform endovenous ablation, ambulatory phlebectomy, sclerotherapy and venous ultrasound while working directly with patients at Clinica Canela, a private 70-bed hospital. Office-based venous surgery is an expanding field with attractive opportunities for medical providers. Minimally invasive venous surgery is currently practiced by a number of specialties. This unique program is limited to eight participants and is specifically focused to sharpen skills in venous surgery and enhance medical practices.

During this 3 1/2-day program, all participants will perform:
* Endovenous ablation (4 procedures)
* Ambulatory phlebectomy (4 procedures)
* Sclerotherapy (4 hours)
* Venous ultrasound (4 hours)

The course will have value for physicians currently practicing in the fields of dermatology, vascular surgery, general surgery, interventional radiology and phlebology as well as related specialties.

Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to:
* Perform preop duplex and clinical evaluation of the patient: How to determine which procedure for which patient.
* Perform intraop, and postop venous duplex ultrasound.
* Demonstrate ultrasound guided percutaneous access to the great saphenous vein.
* Perform guidewire exchanges and placement of ablation catheter and tumescent anesthesia.
* Understand and demonstrate endovenous thermal ablation.
* Demonstrate placement of subcutaneous tumescent anesthesia as well as ambulatory phlebectomy.
* Administer liquid and foam sclerotherapy with and without ultrasound guidance.
* Implement compression therapy for venous procedures.
* Discuss office management issues: billing and coding, office set-up, staffing.
